Loose our blessing?

In the lead up to the current Israeli assault on Gaza I saw a short clip of John Hagee at his “A Night to Honor Israel” rally held on October 22. The wacky, blubberous, false teacher urged a preemptive American attack upon Iran, spoke falsely about God’s covenants, and declared that “What you do to Israel, America, God will do to us. The day we stop blessing Israel will be the day God stops blessing the United States of America“. John Hagee, at age 83, is living proof that wisdom does not necessarily come with age. Let us look at the last statement in his quote.

What would a country look like if it was being blessed by God? The Bible, and the morality and worldview that Europeans drew from it until the last century or so, give us a clear picture. First of all, the people of that country would be an actual people, an ethnos, an ethnically united tribe. The country would not be multicultural, and there would be no large underclass of ethnic foreigners unless they existed there as a servant class. Next, the family would be intact. Not just the nuclear family of parents and children, but the extended family. This means there would be no divorce and remarriage to fracture families and create a sea of half siblings, where children in the same house whose parents are all alive only share one parent with each other. Next, Biblical and traditional gender roles and dress would be preserved. Wives would not need to work outside the home. In every community there would be churches teaching pure doctrine and morality, and exercising church discipline on the openly wicked among their membership. The society would still be largely agrarian, and life would *NOT* be based upon the acquisition of money and material goods. Debt and usury would not be a way of life, much less glorified. Employment would be between men, not between faceless corporations and wage slaves. The masses, even the poor, would have access to healthy food and water. The soil, air and water would be pure, not polluted by men in the never-ending quest for mammon. Doctors would consider their profession a calling, not a racket in which to grow rich in collusion with pharmaceutical and insurance corporations, and they would dispense care to those in need of it. Charity, when necessary, would be dispensed by family, neighbors, and church -not by a leviathan state. The traditional Common Law and Constitutional rights of the people would be respected by the government. Sexual deviancy would be rare, shameful, and punished by the civil magistrate -as would be infanticide. Violent crime would be rare, and (after a just trial) harshly punished by the civil magistrate. Folk culture would be celebrated by all. And lastly the monuments to our ancestors would stand forever and be cherished -not be pulled down by mobs of antifa and Negroes or removed by corrupt governments.

It is clear that the United States of America is *not* currently being blessed by God. We are currently the near opposite of what a blessed people and culture would look like. We cannot loose a blessing that is already gone.

The U.S.A. has not been under God’s blessing since at least 1865, when Dixie was subjugated and the Reconstruction began, and certainly not in the post WWII era of false prosperity, luxury, and decadence. Since the 1920s, and intensifying in the 1960s, we have seen the rise of feminism and the erosion of the family, moral values, and racial cohesion. But my oh my, we had money! But money was all we had. And now the working class no longer has money, is often struggling to just get by.

To say that America is currently under God’s blessing is ridiculous, a spiritually blind assertion. But Hagee made it with a straight face, and most professing Christians seem to believe it. In 1930, one of the Twelve Southerners (Lytle) famously wrote that among some “Fresh linen has too often been mistaken for culture…”. Now most professing Christians mistake gain for godliness, as we were warned of in 1st Timothy 6:6-10.

In Psalms 35:16 we read that “the face of the LORD is against them that do evil”. Is not murdering children the height of evil? Most evangelical Christians are against abortion but were silent this month as the military of Israel killed unarmed Palestinian women and children sheltering in a (Anglican run) hospital and in an 800 year old (Greek Orthodox) church. Yes, children who pray to Jesus were sheltering in a church in Gaza when IDF hit it with an air strike. Pray tell, who is evil here, and whose face is God against?

Politically, morally, economically, and racially -the United States of America is crumbling. American support for a political entity known as the state of Israel for the last 75 years has not halted our decline. In fact, the period in which America has supported Israel has been that of our greatest and most rapid decline. Perhaps there is a correlation.
